The Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health is dedicated to the discovery, dissemination and application of knowledge to promote social and emotional competence in young children locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Exploring and learning about the world requires us to pay attention to meaningful information and encode this information into memory. The Learning and Brain Development Lab research examines the idea that attention and memory are functionally integrated early in life and that the development of selective attention contributes to improvements in learning and memory.
